'American Horror Story' Season 7: Confimed to Revolve Around 2016 Election; Will Trump Be a Character?
Coco Dollanganger"American Horror Story" creator Ryan Murphy's revelation has made headlines as he announced that the anthology horror series' seventh season will be about the 2016 election. The revelation may have surprised many fans as the latest U.S. election is still an ongoing issue at the moment but knowing the series, it does make a big revelation most of the time.
Talking to Andy Cohen's Wednesday night episode of "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen," Murphy said that the "American Horror Story" season 7 he doesn't have a title. "But the season that we begin shooting in June is going to be about the election that we just went through," he added. Asked whether or not President Donald Trump would be part of its line of characters, he only said ‘maybe'.
Murphy's decision on "American Horror Story" season 7 going politics may have made headlines as politics is clearly a bias (of course), but it could also try to frame the entirety of political nature as something outrageous. Although it might also sting some people around the world as the 2016 presidential election is apparently still a big deal at the moment, making it a subject in the series' season 7 could mean whopping TV ratings.
According to Vanity Fair, the "American Horror Story" fanbase has expected this long before Murphy revealed that season 7 would be about the 2016 election. However, according to Comic Book, challenges may occur such as trying to maintain the stranger-than-fiction headlines as well as actions of the present administration, not getting lost in the middle of newly-inspired political satires and trying to avoid being bombarded by the president's tweets whenever he sees how he is being portrayed.
Entertainment Weekly reports that although the details of "American Horror Story" have stayed vague since the season six finale, Murphy did tease in the past that season 7 would be about the modern times. He also confirmed that there will be crossovers in the new cycle with "Murder House" season 1 and "Coven" season 3, though he said it's ‘very bizarre'.
