Kesha Releases 'Damning' Emails from Producer Dr. Luke
S. TurlaRecent reports have revealed new developments in Kesha's ongoing three-year battle against producer Dr. Luke. The singer has recently released 'damning' emails from the music producer in which he bodyshames her.
According to DailyMail.com, the emails from Dr. Luke berate Kesha for small things such as drinking a Diet Coke while on a diet. The singer submitted the emails in her legal battle with Dr. Luke, and their contents do prove that he is abusive toward her.
In one of the emails, the music producer criticizes Kesha for drinking a Diet Coke while on a juice cleanse. He also tells her, "I don't give a sh*t what you want." According to her attorney, Kesha wishes to "be free from her abuser" so she can eventually "rebuild her physical, emotional, and mental health."
While Dr. Luke denies the claims, new emails between him and Monica Cornia (Kesha's manager) prove otherwise. In the emails, the music producer is "often critical of the singer's appearance."
Dr. Luke said, "We were having a discussion on how she can be more disciplined with her diet. There have been many times we have all witnessed her breaking her diet plan. This particular time - it happened to be diet coke and turkey while on an all juice fast."
Cornia replies that Kesha is "a human and not a machine." She also adds, "if she were a machine that would be way cool and we could do whatever we want." In an earlier email, the music producer talked about Kesha's weight. He commented that "A-list songwriters and producers are reluctant to give Kesha their songs because of her weight."
Kesha's legal woes with Dr. Luke grabbed the attention of both music fans and singers alike because it shined "a light on the behind-the-scenes struggles that female artists often face in the music industry." The singer has also "gained support from pop powerhouses such as Taylor Swift, Adele and Lady Gaga," per the Independent.
In one of the emails, Kesha wanted to change the lyrics of one song, but according to Cornia, Dr. Luke allegedly refused and said, "I don't give a s-t what you want. If you were smart you would go in and sing it." The singer wanted to settle things, but she didn't feel comfortable discussing the matter with Dr. Luke in the studio, added Cornia.
