The rumor stems from a Redditor known as Zombieacc, who claims to have been employed by Microsoft as a contractor. Although details about the purported 2017 phone are hard is come by, the release is still in the cards, he wrote.

If the Redditor's prediction proves to be true, the Microsoft Surface Phone-like device, equipped with the long anticipated Win32 application support will not be announced until 2018 or 2019. Apparently, Microsoft is hard at works on a new Windows 10 device, which is scheduled to launch this year, meaning, the company will not be completely away from the mobile grid for 2017.

In other words, gadget freaks will be able to get their hands on a non-Surface Phone handset by the end of the year, giving them something to cheer about until the tech firm is ready to take the wraps off the long-rumored Microsoft Surface Phone 2017.
