LG Optimus Vu 2 owners have a major refresh treat heading their way.
Per reports, an official announcement has arrived from LG stating that the company’s previously released Optimus Vu 2 has now started getting the highly anticipated Android Jelly Bean update.
The LG Optimus Vu 2, however, is not the only Android-based device in news for getting the Android Jelly Bean update. It seems like the users of the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 tablet have also started receiving Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update notifications, and that the new software is already available for download either OTA or through Samsung KIES.
However, as far as the Optimus Vu 2 is concerned, users, before taking much joy from the report, must take note of the fact that the new Jelly Bean update is currently limited in availability to those who are residing in Korea.
More precisely, the update is actually happening for only those who are subscribed to either SK Telecom or KT, and for them the upgrading process has already started. Meanwhile, users of the LG Optimus Vu 2 under LG U+ will have to wait for a while, at least until March, as that’s the time when they will receive the official software update for their handsets.
Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, states that the environment-optimized experience will be available to more customers for existing products with ongoing upgrades that will provide the new services. He also added that the new decisions will strongly reflect the opinion of the company’s customers in the future, and ultimately, the post-support customer satisfaction with the service.
The LG Optimus Vu 2 was first announced last year, and the device came as a follow-up to the original Optimus Vu. Both these phones from LG are notable for the fact that they feature 4:3 displays instead of widescreen ones that are normally used in the current world of large-screened handsets.
Now, this new software update brings the Optimus Vu 2 up to the same level as that of some of the mid-to high-end Android phones that were released alongside the Optimus Vu 2 near the end of last year.
The Vu 2 sports a 5-inch display with 1024 x 768 pixels, and offers other features such as LTE connectivity, a special stylus, an 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, dual-core 1.5GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, and MicroSD card support.
