Nokia has already made a mark in the smartphone domain with the arrival of the Windows Phone 8-based Nokia Lumia 920, and now the Finnish company could be set to offer even more.
Per reports, Nokia could be on its way to bring forward a brand new Windows Phone-based smartphone called Lumia 928, and the device could be the first to come to U.S. carrier Verizon.
The information was revealed via a leaked screenshot, allegedly taken off of Verizon's system. The screenshot brought forward Lumia 928 into contention.
Although no real specifications or features were revealed as of now, it is to be seen if the new device will be something similar to the likes of the previous Lumia 920. The last such rumor from Nokia arrived when the Nokia Laser was leaked on the Internet.
At that time, it was reported that the Laser was actually a codename for the Lumia 920 from Verizon. The Verizon-based Lumia has been rumored for ages now, with the first detail arriving in the form of Lumia 922.
"Sources have revealed that Microsoft is planning to back Verizon's Nokia Laser device heavily. We're told that the Laser will be a flagship device for Verizon, meaning the operator will market it alongside rival top tier devices. Microsoft is said to be investing marketing dollars to push the Laser when it debuts later this year," The Verge wrote at that time.
Moreover, there was also a FCC document for a certain RM-860 revealed on the Web, which might or might not be the 928, and the FCC showed that the device sported a CDMA radio and support for Verizon's LTE bands.
"What do we know about this device? Well we can expect at a bare minimum that it would be at least as wholesome as the Lumia 920 that AT&T has been sporting since the debut of Windows Phone 8. Based on what we think we know, the screen resolution will be 1280x768 and from the single sketch that was tied to the FCC, we can gather that this device will not look like the 920," Phone Arena states.
