Sony continues Android 5.0 Lollipop rollout to more devices & markets worldwide (VIDEO)
Alexandra BurlacuAndroid 5.0 Lollipop is continuing its journey to more Sony Xperia devices just as promised, and the company now has some neat updates on the process.
Google unveiled Android 5.0 Lollipop as the last major version of its popular mobile operating system back in October 2014, and the new OS has started reaching an increasing number of devices in the past few months.
There still are a number of devices that are yet to receive the update, but OEMs are nonetheless doing their part to deliver Android 5.0 Lollipop as soon as possible. Just a couple of weeks ago, Sony announced that it was starting to roll out Android 5.0 Lollipop to its Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact smartphones, initially in the Nordics and Baltics regions. The company said at the time that the update would expand its availability in roughly two weeks, and has now returned with more news.
In a new company blog post, Sony has now announced that Android 5.0 Lollipop continues its rollout to devices as scheduled, reaching more regions and devices. The Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact is now on the list as well, and two other devices are set to follow next week.
"Our Android 5.0, Lollipop upgrade continues from today for Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, and next week for Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet - now rolling out to further markets worldwide," Sony boasts in a new company blog post on Monday, March 30.
"We're also pretty excited to confirm that Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3 will also receive Lollipop... stay tuned, as we'll be sharing more on timings soon."
The update to Android 5.0 Lollipop will bring a slew of neat features and improvements to the table, aiming to enhance the overall performance and allow for a better experience.
Sony has yet to provide specific dates for when Android 5.0 Lollipop will be ready to roll out to more of its devices, but the company has promised that its entire Xperia lineup will get the treat. We'll keep you up to date as soon as Sony covers more devices in its Lollipop rollout process, so stay tuned. In the meantime, the update should arrive momentarily for the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, if it hasn't already.
