George R.R. Martin has recently dropped an update about the much - anticipated book, "The Winds of Winter", but has mentioned that he will not be declaring the release date of the latest installment "A Song of Fire and Ice".

In his blog, he announced the chapter for Arianne Martell, which is not actually new since the author has been reading the material in various conferences, to replace the Alayne chapter.

Martin mentioned that in order to know what exactly the Prince Doran, Sand Snakes, Ellaria Sand and the rest have been up to, fans will have to wait for quite some time. However, the sample will provide them with a taste of what can be expected.

While fans still need to wait a couple of months before the "Dance With The Dragons" sequel is released in the stories, Martine mentioned that there might me more death of characters in the stories, reported Cinema Blend.

According to Martin, there is a reason good enough to kill a character in "Game of Thrones". No matter how famous or well loved a person is, he/she has to die at some point of time. Perhaps this is what Martin wants to implement in the mythical series.

Meanwhile, when a fan asked Martin if he had any plans of releasing the book this year, Martin cleared the air by saying that he is still thinking about it.

He added, "And no, just to spike any bullshit rumors, changing the sample chapter does NOT mean I am done. See the icon up above? Monkey is still on my back... but he's growing, he is, and one day..."

However, in an interview with Jets player last year, as shared by Winter is Coming, George R.R. Martin confessed that he is feeling the pressure of completing the "Winds of Winter", as the events and season of "Game of Thrones" is progressing at a rapid rate.

Hence, it is yet to be seen how soon Martin will be able to complete the novel, which all the viewers of "Game of Thrones" would practically kill for.
