The "Attack on Titan" staff has recently announced the season 2's official release date during the Shingeki Matsuri event on Sunday along with new updates, according to Anime News Network.

The project was initially announced in November 2014 and was set to be released this year, however, recent reports confirmed that it will be out by spring of 2017. Also, the staff shared a glimpse of the series through a photo that was showed during the Attack Festival live-reading event at the Tokyo International Forum.

Based on the image, the human trio Mikasa, Armin, and Eren will return for the next project along with the Titan Eren, Armored Titan, and the Colossal Titan.

Furthermore, the "Attack on Titan" season will have the staff from the first season together with directors Masashi Koizuka and Tetsuro Araki, who will become as the next installment's chief director, according to IGN.

The "Shingeki no Kyojin" anime adaptation remain silent for almost three years wherein its 25th episode was aired last September 2013. During the fan event on July 3, manga artist Hajime Isayama announced, "It's taken some time since the end of the first season, but that's been put to use making a high-quality anime. I hope you'll enjoy it!" as reported by RocketNews 24.

The details about the story of the upcoming second season have been limited. However, Isayama's dedication in drawing never stopped even during the anime's hiatus left fans on the edge of their seats.

The first season was aired from April to September 2013 and was broadcasted by Crunchyroll and Funimation in Japan. Isayama's creation has been an inspiration to produce several spin-offs including a novel series, manga, live-action TV series as well as a two-part movie adaptation of the story and an OVA.

As of the moment, fans have to patiently wait for the release date in spring 2017 in Japan to see the main characters continue their adventure in "Attack on Titan" season 2 on their TV screens.
