Xbox Scorpio Beats PlayStation 4 Pro By Miles; No Competition At All At The Moment?

Xbox Scorpio Beats PlayStation 4 Pro By Miles; No Competition At All At The Moment?

After months of rumors and speculations, Sony finally dropped the bomb with their new console called the PlayStation 4 Pro, which is also known as PlayStation 4 Neo before. It also used to be a competition with Xbox Scorpio, but the recent announcement kills the comparison.

A number of leaked and rumored specs with the PlayStation 4 Pro were correct. This includes high dynamic range visuals and 4K resolution. What the fans and consumers didn't see coming was the way 4K was implemented in the system.

As covered by Geek.com, the PlayStation 4 Pro won't be supporting native 4K. What this simple means is that games will be upscaled from their usual 1080p HD resolution to a larger 4K resolution.

For 4K TV owners and those who would really like to take advantage of the 4K resolution, this feature may actually make the game look less pretty than playing it over a standard 1080p resolution TV.

Xbox Scorpio, on the other hand, is promised to be supporting 4K native resolution and 60 frames per second on all games as much as possible. Though there's no solid source that this will happen, the company did say this once and fans are holding onto their words.

If this would be the case, Xbox Scorpio will still outshine the PlayStation 4 Pro in terms of visuals by a mile.

It isn't to say that consumers will just end up wasting their money on a new PlayStation 4 Pro as Sony still claims that graphical enhancements are visibly present with 1080p TV owners. The case, however, may not be the same with 4K TV owners.

Another downer was the lack of 4K Blu-Rays, which is also another uncalled for surprise for the PlayStation 4 Pro. Something that Xbox Scorpio might fix for resolution junkies.

With the official announcement, everything should be clear now for consumers that the PlayStation 4 Pro is not something that should be compared to the Xbox Scorpio as the two consoles may have a generation gap being the Scorpio dubbed as "Xbox Two" by some.

It still boils down to the choices of games and the exclusives, so either consoles are still good for any fan and consumer looking for quality home entertainment gaming experience.
