A bittersweet news awaits all "Rick and Morty" fans. Latest reports claimed that the animated series' third season may not feature the Interdimensional Cable 3 plot.

During the "Rick and Morty" panel at Comic-Con 2016, co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland dropped a few indications that the next season will be more serial in format than the previous two seasons.

The two then uncovered "Rick and Morty" season 3 may ditch the Interdimensional Cable plot. Though the Interdimensional Cable is indeed amusing, many fans reportedly disliked it as it lacked science-fiction and high-concept plotting.

"We're literally deciding whether or not to do 'Interdimensional Cable 3'," iDigital Times quoted Justin Roiland as saying, to massive cheers from the audience. "So that's the 'yes, we want it,' now can we hear from those who are like 'nah, can we see something else,' anybody?"

Nonetheless, it is worth noting that nothing is confirmed up to this writing. Meanwhile, the premiere of "Rick and Morty" season 3 will presumably proceed or resolve the previous season's cliffhanger, which saw Rick secured up in the Galactic Federation Prison.

With this, GamenGuide speculated that an Evil Morty from an alternate dimension will cause havoc on the show's third season. Sources have claimed that Evil Morty will kidnap Rick after helping him escape jail.

Hence, Morty and Summer will do their best to get Rick back and execute Evil Morty in "Rick and Morty" season 3. Fans should also keep an eye out for Rick's ex-wife, who will reportedly make an unexpected return in the next season.
