‘Tokyo Ghoul’ Season 3 2016 Release Date Still Possible? Reasons Behind Delay, Plot Rumors

Recent rumors of "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3's 2016 release date have been surfacing online.

Although the anime's producers remain silent on its premiere date, there may be a chance that Season 3 may make a debut before the year ends, according to Movie News Guide

This is in contrast to the earlier speculations of a 2017 release date. The delay is reportedly caused by lacking new material from the show's writers.

The anime's third season is expected to be a big overhaul and may follow the original storyline of the manga, after the rather disappointing second season, according to fans.

Furthermore, there are reportedly a few leaks of the season's major storyline - most notably Kaneki's new identity. He, Touka, and Furuta may also be the central focus of the anime series' story.

It is also speculated that in Season 3, Kaneki will start to recollect memories from the past that would reveal his true character: him being Haise Sasaki, leader of the Quinx Squad.

In a previous report, the recent "Tokyo Ghoul" live-action feature film may be one of the reasons of the anime series' delay. The movie's release date is reported to be on June 2017, and producers may be focusing on the movie's screenwriting.

There are also reports of animation studio Madhouse taking over the series' production, moving away from its previous animation studio, Pierrot. Madhouse is the same production team behind "Death Note" and "One Punch Man," so fans may expect more violence, gore and blood in the upcoming season, if the reports are spot-on.

An immensely popular franchise that sold over 18 million copies, fans are assured that the "Tokyo Ghoul" series will stay active. Despite anime production delays, "Tokyo Ghoul" writer Sui Ishida continues to provide new content to his fans, as he writes both the manga and light novels.

Stay tuned for more "Tokyo Ghoul" updates.
