'Surface Pro 5' Release Date, Price, News & Updates [VIDEO]: Microsoft Eyes Snapdragon 635 Over Intel Kaby Lake Processor
Joshua KyleThe hype for the arrival of Surface Pro 5 continue to soar with speculations on its superb specs and features, fueling more enthusiasm from loyal Microsoft fans. The Surface Pro 5 may also come with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 635 processor, along with the latest Windows 10 update (Creators Update) as its canvass.
The hybrid desktop-laptop device may likely prefer the Qualcomm processor amid earlier reports that it will tuck Intel Kaby Lake chipset under its hood. This development is a leapfrog from the earlier option to prevent the Surface Pro 5 from meeting the fate of its closest rival, the MacBook Pro. The Snapdragon 635 chipset provides a longer battery life and a seamless mobile connectivity, a set of features which are nowhere to be found with Apple devices. It will also sport the latest Wi-Fi version, a better Bluetooth connectivity, and a 4K resolution screen display.
Although the Redmond-based tech giant has tightly closed the Surface Pro 5's launch information, news of its 2017 Spring debut is likely to be true, considering that the Window's Creator Update won't come until that time. It will also give ample time for Microsoft to redesign the hardware setup of the Surface Pro 5, if it will indeed shift to Snapdragon from Intel Kaby Lake.
This Snapdragon over Kaby Lake reports happened when Microsoft and Qualcomm recently announced their partnership. Microsoft has already showcased Windows 10 running on an ARM 64-bit processor.
Microsoft will also likely enlist the Surface Pro 5 to its anti-Apple program, providing existing Surface Pro 4 users with easy upgrade term options while offering huge cash incentives and discounts to Apply shifters. Microsoft has been reaping success on the programs as more and more Apple users are now turning themselves toward Microsoft's products. With respect to price range, Microsoft will likely sell the Surface Pro 5 from around $800 for the standard version to as much as $1800 for the premium version.
