Serena Williams recently announced her engagement to Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit. The Tennis champ publicized her relationship status with fiance through a poem she posted on Reddit.

CNN News reported that Ohanian's spokesman also came forward to confirm that the American internet entrepreneur proposed while on vacation with Williams in Rome. Ohanian himself also updated his Facebook page with the announcement of his engagement.

On Dec. 29, Williams uniquely announced that she will be married soon by writing a short poem. On her Reddit account, she narrated how her fiance proposed to her:

"I came home a little late, someone had a bag packed for me. And a carriage awaited, Destination: Rome. To escort me to my very own ‘charming,' back to where our stars first collided."

The verse continued with, "And now it was full circle, at the same table we first met by chance. This time he made it not by chance, but by choice. Down on one knee, he said 4 words."

At the end of the meaningful poetry, Williams wrote: "And I said yes." On the same post, Ohanian replied to Williams by saying she just made him the "happiest man on the planet."

A source told E! News that the tennis star's circle of close friends are very happy for her. It was added that this is the first time that everyone had seen Serena this happy with a man. They said that it was love at first sight for the engaged couple.

Further, friends asserted that the couple always laugh together non-stop and they could see that the pair is on the same page in life. They simply believe that Serena and Alexis are meant for one another.

Williams, who is 35, is two years older than Ohanian. They met last year and started to date since October 2015. Despite being a celebrity, Serena managed to keep her love life out of the limelight so the engagement is considered as the first public news about the couple.
