Kim Burrell Addresses Homophobic Remarks Days Before Appearance On 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show'
Hemal VoraThe Ellen DeGeneres Show is not new to controversies, but this time it may go to the next level. Gospel singer Kim Burrell is facing a backlash for attacking the LGBT community days before she is scheduled to appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Kim Burrell's video has emerged in which she delivers a Sermon and attacks the LGBT people by calling them "Sinners" and "perverts." The video was uploaded on YouTube and shows Burrell preaching against homosexuality. It is surprising that such homophobe has been invited to The Ellen DeGeneres Show, as reported by TeenVogue.
In her sermon, Kim Burrell cursed that homosexual people will die in 2017 due to their sins. She said that the homosexual spirit is perverted and confused and had caused pain on the body of Christ. She goes on further to add,
"You as a man, you open your mouth and take a man's p***s in your face, you are perverted. You are a woman and will shake your face in another woman's b***st, you are perverted. And it has come into our church and embarrassed the kingdom of God."
On Bishop Eddie Long, who is rumoured to be suffering from HIV, Burrell said that he was an "embarrassment to the church" as his alleged illness was due to homosexual activity.
Kim Burrell will be seen on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on January 5.In response to the backlash, Burrell appeared on Facebook live to respond to the controversy, as reported by People.com. Burrell said that she was not against the LGBT community and had not spoken anything against them. She remained adamant on her stand about sinners.
Burrell insisted that an enemy was responsible for projecting her video in a negative light. She again said that she loved the homosexual spirit because God loves them, but God hates the sins. It is worth nothing the Burrell is a pastor and founder of a Church in Houston.
Representatives of both Burrell and Ellen have not issued any statements. Fans are expecting an awkward moment when Kim Burrell appears on The Ellen DeGeneres Show as Ellen is an openly gay woman.
