The Chinese tech company, Lenovo has revealed their latest smart home assistant which is expected to go head to head with other similar devices like the Amazon Echo and Google Home. Android Authority reported that the device is known as the Lenovo Smart Assistant and is powered by Alexa, Amazon's software and will be sporting a tube-like design just like Amazon Echo.

What makes this device unique is that the top half of the device has a silver white color while the bottom half is a woven fabric design which has variety of colors to choose from. The Smart Assistant will be powered by an Intel Celeron N3060 processor that includes a 5-watt tweeter and one 10-watt woofer for its audio playback which will be compatible with the Alexa app and other third-party smart home devices.

Aside from different color choices, Lenovo has two versions of the Smart Assistant that comes in different prices. The standard model costs $129, which is cheaper than the $179.99 price tag of Amazon Echo. The other device is the Harmon Kardon audio version which is said to have a superior audio performance for the price of $179.

The Smart Assistant also has far-field microphones that would enable to the device to recognize commands accurately even from a distance compared to Amazon Echo. The microphone extends beyond the device and is also used for ventilation for the Intel Atom processor to cool down inside, as reported by the Verge.

Lenovo has also announced a 6 TB networked hard drive called the Smart Storage box where the device immediately back up mobile data which allows the users to access the device at any location. It has also a built in facial recognition software which can help identify people in photos and it will be on sale for $139 together with the Smart Assistant in May 2017.
