AMD Ryzen And Vega Trotted Out At CES 2017, Running 'Star Wars Battlefront' At A Rock Solid 60FPS [VIDEO]
Vinay PatelAMD (Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.) did not unveil some highly anticipated goods at its New Horizon event in December. Tech buffs could only get a peek at specific demos that showed the performance of the company's Ryzen desktop processor. Aside from that, they caught a brief glimpse of AMD's impending graphics chip design codenamed "Vega." Apparently, the predicted motherboard goods were kept under wraps for CES 2017.
AMD has put up demo stations at CES 2017 showcasing Ryzen CPU coupled with an unnamed Vega GPU that's running "Star Wars Battlefront" at 4K 60FPS (frames per second). The video posted by Think Computers allows fans to take a gander at the 8-core Ryzen and Vega running the game without any sort of hassle at an impressive 60FPS.
Another brief look provided by 4Gamers, via TheCountryCaller, demonstrates the game being handled smoothly at Ultra quality settings with Anti-aliasing set to FXAA High. Regrettably, details about the Vega GPU are scarce; however, multiple reports suggest it will come with HBM2 on-board.
AMD is gearing up to preview Vega at CES 2017 this week. Until officially confirmed, readers are advised to take reports hinting at Vega's capability to power 4K gaming with a grain of salt. More details are likely to surface before Vega's arrival during the first half of this year.
Meanwhile, there are five motherboard manufacturers at CES 2017 showcasing a total of 16 AM4-based solutions apt for the impending Ryzen desktop processors. They feature the X370 and X300 chipsets, with the X370 exclusively designed for the high-end desktop segment that clamor for multiple graphics cards, ultimate performance and of course, the latest motherboard features.
The X300 chipsets, on the other hand, serves highly-efficient small form factor PCs that use Mini-ITX motherboards. Here's a look at the boards on display at the Las Vegas tech convention:
ASRock: X370 Taichi, X370 Gaming K4, AB350 Gaming K4, A320M Pro4
Asus: B350M-C
Biostar: X370GT7, X350GT5, X350GT3
Gigabyte: GA-AX370-Gaming K5, GA-AX370-Gaming 5, AB350-Gaming 3, A320M-HD3
MSI: A320M Pro-VD, X370 Xpower Gaming Titanium, B350 Tomahawk, B350M Mortar
