HTC Vive Update & Latest News: HTC's TPCast Peripheral Actually Works; Company Releases Two New Accessories For The Vive
Ceage SottoHTC announced a peripheral for the Vive VR headset called TPCast last month. The device provides wireless functionality to the company's VR headset and the good thing is -- it actually works.
The TPCast does not require users to be tethered to a personal computer with a thick, lengthy cable. Sam Byford of The Verge had a chance to try HTC's peripheral to the Vive VR headset and he's impressed by how it works.
The TPCast functions well with the Vive that users won't have any trouble with the VR headset's framerate. If there is any, it won't affect owners of the headset with their overall VR experience.
Byford tried HTC's TPcast in a crowded demo area and it worked so well that he often forgot that he was using it. The peripheral extension came from HTC's Vive X accelerator program.
The TPcast is only available for orders in China as of the moment and it costs around $249. There is still no update on when it will be available for the global market. Those who are interested in the device can also check out HTC's booth at CES 2017.
In other news, HTC has unveiled two new accessories for the Vive VR headset. The Vive Tracker allows users to attach other physical peripherals and controllers so they can be tracked in the VR world. The other one is a new head strap that has integrated audio to improve user comfort.
The Vive Deluxe Audio Strap has a more comfortable strap that fits your head. It comes with high definition earphones for an integrated VR audio.
The accessories are HTC's answer to other VR rivals that have developed new ways to improve the overall VR experience. The Vive shares its popularity with the Oculus rift in leading the market for VR headsets.
According to HTC's announcement, the Vive Tracker and the Vive Deluxe Audio Strap will hit the market in the second quarter this year. The company has not yet disclosed the price for the two VR accessories.
HTC is killing the buzz for the Vive 2 headset by improving the Vive's overall user experience. Keep posted for more updates.
