WorldStarHipHop Founder Lee O'Denat Dies at Massage Parlor in San Diego; He was 43

Lee O'Denat, the founder of the well-known R-rated website called the WorldStarHipHop passed away on Jan. 23 in San Diego, California. He was 43.

According to Los Angeles Times, O'Denat was visiting a local business establishment in San Diego shopping center when he suddenly became unresponsive. Health medics arrived at the scene and tried to do CPR to revive him, however they were unsuccessful and the hip hop personality was pronounced dead on the spot at around 5:30 p.m.

Later, the police described the establishment as a massage parlor. As for the cause of his sudden death, the coroner's office pointed at a type of heart ailment called the atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease . It was added that obesity was also a big factor that led to O'Denat's demise.

It was the online publication TMZ, that first reported about the story on O'Denat's passing. Later, WorldStar confirmed the report through its official Twitter account. On Jan. 25, the WorldStarHipHop tweeted, "We ask that you remember Q in your prayers and raise a toast to the sky in his name. RIP."

The post also described O'Denat, who was fondly called Q by his peers, as "a brilliant businessman who championed urban culture." It was also stated that more than being a good businessman, Q was one of the nicest and most devoted father out there. He was also a very generous guy according to the tweet.

Meanwhile, O'Denat was supposed to star in a reality TV show on MTV2 which was slated to air on Feb. 3. The show has been formatted based on his WorldStarHipHop website which is known to feature sexual and violent content.

Lee O'Denat founded the WorldStarHipHop in 2005. Although controversial, the site won the Best Hip Hop Blog Site at the Black Entertainment Television Awards (BET). the site bagged the same award for five consecutive years, from 2010 to 2015. The recognition made people to label WorlStarHipHop as the biggest hip-hop webpage in the world.
