Tomb Raider & Deus Ex Developers Assembling 'The Avengers Project'
JulianneSquare Enix and Marvel have recently announced that the two major companies will team up for an "Avengers" game. The upcoming title will be developed by "Tomb Raider" and "Deus Ex" developers Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal.
In a report by CNET, the upcoming game is titled "The Avengers Project." The publication added that the game title would be released in 2018. In the trailer, viewers can see Thor's hammer, Captain America's Shield and Iron Man's mechanical arm.
Marvel initially revealed some vague hints about the game in the Youtube trailer but Marvel deleted those notes. The text reads that the game will be designed for gamers worldwide while several characters from the Marvel universe will be added in the game.
According to GameSpot, the "Avengers" game title will feature an original story. It will also introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come.
Meanwhile, senior vice president of Games & Innovation from Marvel Entertainment, Jay Ong, stated that with partnering with two of the industry's most talented game development studios, Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Motreal, Marvel will bring to life storytelling that gamers have never experienced before.
Ong further stated that aside from comic books, films and TV, "The Avengers Project" is a perfect example of how the company is making games another landscape of storytelling. Marvel VP added that the company can achieve this by matching Marvel's super heroes with Square Enix's creative minds and the world's top game developers.
Chief executive of Square Enix America and Europe, Phil Rogers, stated that the game developers are excited to bring its award-winning development and Marvel's extraordinary storytellers together to make a new entertainment powerhouse. In the meantime, Marvel has upcoming movie installments that will premiere this year.
"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2", Spider-Man: Homecoming", and "Thor: Ragnarok" are some of the films coming out this year. Other than that, "Black Panther", "Avengers: Infinity War", and "Ant-Man and Wasp" will soon to follow.
