The latest chapters of Hiro Mashima's "Fairy Tail" manga novel have been released with its story that is believed to be heart-pounding. Chapters 522 and 523 will likely have shorter fights although these are relevant between the two parties and will certainly affect the whole flow of the story.

The previous chapter has seen the beginning of the fight between August versus Gildarts and Zeref versus Grays and for chapters 522 and 523, it sees death for Gray Fullbuster. The previous chapter shows him being heavily wounded while looking for Zeref in the "Fairy Tail" Guild's building, where Zeref has apologized to Natzu but somewhat unheard as he prepares to face Gray, which means that Zeref is certainly going to kill Gray, his brother's bestfriend.

Gray has experienced many near-death scenes in the manga novel such as almost dying in the Grand Magic Games Arc but got away from it when Ultear casted a time reversal magic. He was also almost killed while facing off Invel Yura in the "Fairy Tail" latest arc.

Reports say that regardless of being powerful because of his newly obtained devil slayer magic, his physical condition keeps him from getting a chance to defeat Zeref. Moreover, sources also say that Gray can still make use of his Trump Card but it means that he also needs to use Iced Shell to win against Zeref but then, he will eventually die in the process and even Wendy has a little to no chance to save him.

As for "Fairy Tail" chapter 523, Gildarts, the highest ranked mage in the Fairy Tail Guild came in time before August can cast a spell to wipe out the entire Kingdom. August is being introduced by Makarov as the most clever mage in the Alvarez empire since he knows more magic compared to Zeref.
