Fans of "The Vampire Diaries" are torn because the show's eighth season is definitely a bittersweet installment for them. The show is now on its last season, but things look bright because Nina Dobrev finally returns to the show to give the fans the finale they deserve.

According to PopSugar, previous episodes of "The Vampire Diaries'" eighth went all out and were full of nostalgic throwbacks. Nina Dobrev is also just one of the many cast members who is returning for the show's final season.

How Elena "will break out of her sleeping curse" still hasn't been revealed, but executive producer Julie Plec teased several details about how the last season of "The Vampire Diaries" will end. She also talked about the death of a major character, which surely started fans theorizing on who the unlucky soul could be.

Nina Dobrev left the show way back in Season 6, but she's come back for the finale. The actress will reprise her role as Elena and her doppelganger Katherine. Some reports say that Joel Gretsch, who portrayed Matt's father Peter Maxwell in Season 8, will also be back for the finale.

Even though Michael Trevino's character Tyler was murdered by Damon in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8, it looks like Tyler will also show up in the finale. Steven R. McQueen, who portrays Jeremy Gilbert, is also coming back in the show's last season.

Kayla Ewell, who briefly showed up as Vicky Donovan in a previous episode this season, will return for the finale. Sara Canning, who plays Elena and Jeremy's Aunt Jenna, will allegedly be back for the finale. Canning was seen on set with the crew as the wrap party.

Although David Anders' character John Gilbert has already died, the actor hinted at his return. Anders was also seen with Dobrev on set. Arielle Kebbel, who plays Lexi, is also reportedly coming back in the finale after Dobrev shared a video of her dressing room with Kebbel in the background. Michael Malarkey, who played Enzo, will also allegedly be back "in bits and pieces of the finale" for "The Vampire Diaries."

The Hollywood Gossip has revealed that the show "transformed" CW when it aired and that even though Elena has been under the sleeping spell, her character remained relevant to the succeeding seasons following Dobrev's departure from the show. Elena is often referenced, especially when it came to Damon and the question of his being deserving enough to spend "all eternity with the love of his life" was asked.

Plec and co-executive producer Kevin Williamson co-write the finale of "The Vampire Diaries," which is titled 'I was feeling epic." Dobrev even said, "I'm thrilled to bring this show to an end the way we always intended - with Nina back to help us say goodbye." Williamson added, "I'm so excited to have Nina back to ensure our farewell episode is truly epic!"
