The new HTC One Max is apparently coming to Verizon Wireless soon, as the carrier accidentally showed off an image of the device, along with pricing details.
HTC plans to compete on the phablet market with its massive HTC One Max, which retains the elegant design of the flagship HTC One but sports a huge 5.9-inch full HD display. Sprint is currently the only carrier that offers the HTC One Max, but it seems that Verizon is getting ready to join the party.
Here's how the story goes. Verizon has just unveiled a new store concept at Mall of America, touting "the internet of things" and how its communications infrastructure helps customers stay connected both at home and on the go. HTC Source attended the event and reported seeing a seemingly accidental revealing of the Verizon HTC One Max and its pricing.
"Verizon did not have a demo unit in the store, but one of the massive interactive touch-screen displays did feature the HTC One Max and its price," reports HTC Source. The on-contract price of the HTC One max was listed at $299.99 or $24.99 per month on Verizon EDGE."
The publication further notes that unlike Sprint's version of the phablet, which sports no carrier logo on the device, the Verizon HTC One Max comes with Big Red's branding front and center, even replacing the HTC logo below the screen.
The phablet market has really taken off, with increasingly more smartphone shoppers looking for a big-screen smartphone rather than a more compact unit. The smartphone market now features handsets in all sizes, but phablets are gaining momentum. Samsung recently launched its new Galaxy Note 3 phablet, Nokia jumped on board with its new Lumia 1520 Windows Phone 8 phablet, and HTC has its One Max offering.
All signs point to an imminent HTC One Max launch on Verizon Wireless' network, but the carrier has yet to offer a specific release date. Verizon had previously announced that it will start offering the new HTC phablet this holiday season, but it still hasn't revealed the launch date. With the holiday shopping season just around the corner, however, the Verizon HTC One Max should make its debut soon enough. In the meantime, the phablet is available only from Sprint.
