Olympus Stylus Tough TG-3 official as waterproof, shockproof, ‘most versatile outdoor camera ever’

The Olympus Stylus series has expanded with the addition of the new Olympus Stylus Tough TG-3 model, which features a rugged body and some neat features.

The new Olympus Stylus Tough TG-3 is a new point-and-shoot offering that packs an f/2 lens and is waterproof, shock-proof and resistant to cold temperatures.

"Strength and sophistication - two words that define the TG-3. This ultra-rugged camera's super-bright f2.0 lens delivers superb image quality in the harshest conditions," touts Olympus. "Features like WiFi (remote camera operation, easy file sharing), time-interval shooting (similar to popular action cams), time-lapse movie (sunsets! starscapes!) and advanced GPS make the TG-3 Olympus's most versatile outdoor camera ever."

The new Olympus Stylus Tough TG-3 can withstand being submerged in up to 50 feet of water, and it will still work in temperatures as cold as 14 degrees F (10 degrees C). It can handle drops from 7 feet and weight pressures of 100kgf, which means it is crushproof to 220 pounds of pressure.

"Do friends sometimes doubt your stories about extreme adventures? They'll believe you when they see the incredible images and videos you bring back with your TG-3 (or that you share instantly with built-in Wifi!). Its lifeproof construction takes whatever you can dish out," Olympus further boasts.

As previously mentioned, this ruggedized camera also packs GPS and Wi-Fi, and it also boasts a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor, an f.2-4.9, 25-100mm optical zoom lens, as well as a TruePic VII processor.

Macro fans will also enjoy this camera's neat capabilities, as the Olympus Stylus Tough TG-3 offers four macro modes: Microscope, Microscope Control (maximum 44.5x magnification from 1cm), Focus Bracketing and Focus Stacking. The latter mode allows the camera to take multiple images from the foreground to the background and automatically merge the areas in focus into one perfect shot. The new LED ring light completes this experience for a neat portable macro set-up, allowing users to affix it to the lens in order to gain even light on tiny subjects.

The shooter, meanwhile, boasts a 3-inch 460k-dot LCD screen and can also capture 1080p full HD videos.

The new Olympus Stylus Tough TG-3 will be available in black and red color options and will hit retail this June, sporting a $349.99 price tag. Moreover, Olympus is also throwing in a free Floating Strap (normally valued at $19.99) along with the purchase of the TG-3. To benefit from this free accessory, just add the float strap (any color) and the camera to your cart and apply coupon code FLOAT at checkout to get the discount.
