T-Mobile, Samsung give you up to $200 to ditch BlackBerry – All you need to know

Samsung and T-Mobile have teamed up against BlackBerry, offering users up to $200 to ditch their BlackBerry device and upgrade to a new Samsung handset.

Just recently BlackBerry announced that it has cut all ties with T-Mobile, as their strategies were too different and they were no longer looking in the same direction. It now seems that the breakup still echoes, as Samsung and the "Uncarrier" have now announced that current BlackBerry users on T-Mobile can get up to $200 if they choose to swap to a new Samsung device.

Current BlackBerry users on T-Mobile's network simply need to trade in their device for a new Samsung smartphone to take advantage of this offer, and they will receive a gift card worth up to $200.

"Ready to make a change and upgrade your T-Mobile BlackBerry to a new Samsung phone? Now's a great time to get a new Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Light, or even the brand-new Galaxy S5. Simply upgrade your T-Mobile BlackBerry to a new Samsung phone, and we'll give you a gift card for up to $200," touts the Uncarrier.

The same offer stands for JUMP! customers as well, as those who are eligible for a JUMP! upgrade will also get a gift card for their old BlackBerry device. Meanwhile, T-Mobile BlackBerry users who are looking to upgrade, but not to a Samsung device, can also get a gift card of up to $100. Unlike other attractive deals that are limited-time only, T-Mobile's new trade-in offer is available by the end of the year.

Lastly, T-Mobile reassures BlackBerry users on its network that it will support them even if they don't want to ditch their device in favor of a new one. The same services and contracts will remain in place, but although it will continue supporting existing BlackBerry users, T-Mobile is no longer allowing its customers to purchase a new BlackBerry.

The latest offer will likely bring great news to Samsung fans, especially since T-Mobile has just started selling the latest Samsung Galaxy S5 flagship smartphone a couple of days ago. The carrier is currently offering the Galaxy S5 for $0 down followed by 24 equal monthly installments of $27.50, or the full retail price of $660 outright.
