LG G Pad trio of tablets unveiled with ‘sizeable screens without compromising portability’
Alexandra BurlacuLG has just expanded its G Pad tablet lineup with three new slates - the LG G Pad 7.0, G Pad 8.0, and G Pad 10.1.
The three new models follow last year's LG G Pad 8.3, which was quite well-received and went on to become the very first tablet to launch in a Google Play Edition.
LG has yet to reveal the full specifications for its new trio of tablets, but said it will offer more details at the upcoming European technology show MedPl, which kicks off on Tuesday, May 13. It's also worth mentioning that the new G Pad slates come ahead of LG's big smartphone announcement, the highly-anticipated LG G3 unveiling on May 27.
LG's new G Pad trio aims to appeal to all audiences, offering various screen sizes to suit several tastes and preferences. According to the company, the 7-inch model can serve as an "on the go entertainment hub," while the largest 10.1-inch variant will boast the largest battery of the three.
"Customers tell us that they want a wider range of devices that offer sizeable screens without compromising portability," LG CEO Dr. Jong-seok Park said in the press release issued Monday, May 12.
"Unlike smartphones, tablets are not one size fits all. So we designed the G Pad Series for a diverse target audience, some who prioritise portability while others want the best multimedia experience possible. G Pad delivers on all counts."
As previously mentioned, LG has not yet detailed the full specifications of its upcoming G Pad tablets, but it did say that all three slates will rock its custom user interface (UI), which will likely come on top of Android 4.4 KitKat. This means that in addition to other neat features, the tablets will also come with the much-touted LG Knock Code, allowing users to easily unlock their device by tapping the screen based on previously set patterns. Moreover, users will also be able to seamlessly connect their tablet to any Android smartphone via a new and updated 2.0 version of the popular QPair, easily displaying notifications.
While LG has not offered much to go on for now, the images it posted further reveal that the new G Pad tablets will come in at least three color options. The LG G Pad 7.0 appears in a blue hue, the 8-inch model is shown in white, while the larger 10.1-inch variant poses for the camera in a black paint job.
No pricing or availability details are currently available for the new LG G Pad tablets, but LG should offer more information on May 13 or soon after. Stay tuned.
