LG G3 Beat (Mini) drops by FCC with AT&T LTE support
Alexandra BurlacuAn LG G3 Mini or G3 Beat may hit the U.S. soon, as a handset with model number LG-D725 has dropped by the FCC with AT&T LTE support.
The "Mini" smartphone trend keeps gaining momentum, with increasingly more companies joining the party and launching smaller versions of their high-end flagships. Samsung has just unveiled its latest Galaxy S5 Mini, and LG is expected to follow suit and launch an LG G3 Mini soon.
An LG device thought to be the LG G3 Mini was recently spotted in China sporting the "Beat" moniker, listed with a 5-inch display and model number LG-D729. It's worth pointing out that the LG G3 Mini was rumored to feature a 4.5-inch display, which sparked speculation that this 5-inch "Beat" model might be a separate device, or a "Mini" version meant only for China.
The LG G3 Beat has now popped up again, however, and this time it dropped by the FCC with model number LG-D725 and support for AT&T's LTE bands. This means that it's not a China exclusive after all, and will reach the U.S. as well.
As GforGames first reported, this new LG smartphone with model number LG-D725 appeared in the FCC database with AT&T LTE bands 2, 4, 5, and 17 in tow. According to the FCC filing, the handset packs a 127.0 mm display, which translates into 5 inches. The purported LG G3 Mini had previously been spotted in India with model number LG-D274, but with a smaller 4.5-inch screen.
Judging by these new FCC filings, however, it now seems that the LG G3 Beat will make its way to the U.S., launching on at least on carrier. The 5-inch LG G3 Beat seems to be headed to AT&T, and other carriers may offer the smartphone as well.
On the other hand, without an official announcement from LG, it all remains in the rumor state for now. If the company does indeed plan to launch an LG G3 Beat or LG G3 Mini in the U.S. or other markets, more details should surface soon enough. The FCC listing suggests an imminent debut, and we'll make sure to keep you up to date as soon as more information becomes available.
