Nokia Lumia 1525 headed T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon, with Windows Phone 8.1 and Snapdragon 801
Alexandra BurlacuA new Windows Phone device called the Nokia Lumia 1525 is apparently ready to make its U.S. debut soon, reaching all but one major carriers.
Just the other day leaks started to reveal Microsoft's plans to release more Windows Phone devices, adding the "Nokia by Microsoft" branding. The company finalized its acquisition of Nokia's device unit and is apparently getting busy already, with the Lumia 1525 as one of the first devices to launch after this deal.
Previous rumors suggested that the Lumia 1525 would launch as a T-Mobile exclusive in the U.S., but new information now claims otherwise. According to well-known and trusted tipster @evleaks, the device will make its way to other major carriers as well.
"The Lumia 1525 from Nokia by Microsoft is a Windows Phone 8.1-powered 1520 with the SoC upgraded to a Snapdragon 801. Besides T-Mobile, it's also going to - wait for it, wait for it - AT&T and Verizon," @evleaks revealed on Monday, July 7.
As a reminder, the existing Nokia Lumia 1520 comes with a 6-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad core processor, 2GB of RAM, a 20-megapixel rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics, auto focus, optical image stabilization (OIS), and dual-LED flash, and a 1.2-megapixel front shooter.
Other than the upgraded Snapdragon 801 processor and the latest Windows Phone 8.1 on board, the Lumia 1525 may also come with 3GB of RAM. The handset is expected to retain the display, camera, and other features of the Lumia 1520.
Windows Phone 8.1, meanwhile, means that the smartphone will boast all the goodies the new OS has to offer, including the much-touted Cortana digital assistant. Cortana is Microsoft's answer to Apple's Siri and Google Now, and it has already drawn lots of interest worldwide despite not being available to the general public just yet.
Evleaks offered no details regarding when exactly the Nokia Lumia 1525 will make its debut, but we'll make sure to keep you up to date as soon as we hear more. In the meantime, take all leaks, rumors and speculation with a grain of salt.
