Samsung Galaxy Note Edge hits U.S. on Nov. 14 – Carriers, pricing, availability
Alexandra BurlacuSamsung's Galaxy Note Edge curved-display phablet is hitting the U.S. market on Nov. 14, ready to launch on all major carriers.
The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is a high-end handset with intriguing design and functionality, representing a new take on phablets. The Note Edge is a niche device and was rumored to come with limited availability, much like the Galaxy Round launched last year, but the new phablet will nonetheless hit all major U.S. carriers. Pricing, of course, will vary depending on the carrier and the option you choose.
"Samsung Telecommunications America, LLC (Samsung) today announced that the Galaxy Note Edge will be available in the U.S. beginning Nov. 14. The Galaxy Note Edge is the first smartphone of its kind with a functional, curved display for interruption-free notifications," reads the company's press release on Monday, Nov. 3.
"The 5.6-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED screen has a high resolution with more pixels, making the display sharper, brighter and more immersive than ever. The Galaxy Note Edge delivers unique smartphone experiences with a scrollable screen that wraps around the right edge of the device, extending the screen with room to do and see more. The Edge screen gives access to email, Internet apps, notifications, news and more without interrupting the content on the main screen. Night clock mode dimly displays the time, alarm and weather and is easily viewable when the Galaxy Note Edge is placed bedside. Consumers can customize the scrollable Edge menu panel with their favorite apps for quick access; the apps are always available, from any screen."
The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge will hit AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, T-Mobile, and US Cellular starting on Nov. 14, with specific pricing and availability details to be announced by each carrier. AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile have already made their announcements, and the Galaxy Note Edge will definitely not come cheap.
AT&T has issued an official press release on Monday, Nov. 3, announcing that it will offer the Galaxy Note Edge for $946 without a contract and $400 subsidized, when agreeing to sign a two-year service agreement. The carrier will also be offering the Galaxy Note Edge for $0 down and $39.42 per month with AT&T Next 18, or $47.30 per month with AT&T Next 12. Select AT&T retail stores nationwide will display the Galaxy Note Edge on Nov. 7.
Also on Monday, Nov. 3, Sprint announced that it will be launching the phablet on Nov. 14, offering the Galaxy Note Edge for $0 down and $35 per month for 24 months under its Easy Pay plan. This would amount to $840 total, excluding taxes.
T-Mobile, meanwhile, announced a similar monthly installment plan for the Galaxy Note Edge, offering the device for $0 down and 24 equal monthly installments of $36.25. The total cost on this plan will amount to $870, excluding taxes.
Verizon and US Cellular have yet to offer exact pricing and availability details for the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge on their respective networks, but should provide more details shortly. For now, Verizon Wireless has a pre-registration page set up for the device, allowing users to sign up and receive notifications regarding pre-orders, pricing, and availability for the Galaxy Note Edge.
