Apple to push Beats Music to iPhones and iPads in an update next year?

Apple is reportedly planning to make its presence relevant on the music streaming market next year by pushing its Beats Music service to all iPhones and iPads.

As a reminder, Apple acquired Beats Music earlier this year, in a $3 billion deal. Packing Beats Music into its devices would mark the company's first attempt to monetize it since completing the acquisition.

The news comes from the Financial Times (FT), which claims that Apple will push Beats Music to iPhones and iPads next year via a software update. According to the publication, this update could roll out as soon as March.

It remains unclear at this point, however, whether Apple will push the streaming service to its iPhones and iPads under the Beats brand, or whether it will incorporate it into its existing iTunes service, as some previous rumors indicated earlier this year.

At the same time, it also remains to be seen just what options will be available for iPhone and iPad users worldwide, as Beats Music is exclusive to the U.S. for the time being. If Apple does indeed plan to pack Beats into its existing iTunes and serve it as an update next year, it could also update devices outside of the U.S. On the other hand, this is just speculation at this point.

If the popular Beats Music subscription service will come pre-installed on the slew of iPhones and iPads, which sell in droves, other music subscription services such as Spotify and Pandora will have some serious competition next year.

If Beats Music will be available as a paid service, however, some users will likely choose not to pay for it and go for other music streaming services that are free instead. A Beats Music subscription currently costs $9.99 per month, or $99.99 for 12 months.

The Financial Times further notes in its report that Apple could use its TouchID fingerprint scanner to allow users to easily subscribe to Beats Music. Lastly, the publication points out that rolling out the service early next year could also indicate some tie-in with the highly-anticipated Apple Watch, which is set to hit commercial availability in 2015.

Keep in mind, however, that nothing is official at this point, so it is best to take this report with a grain of salt. We'll keep you up to date as soon as more information becomes available, so stay tuned.
