BLU Products launches three new smartphones with 4G LTE connectivity, still affordable
Alexandra BurlacuBLU Products has launched a new smartphone lineup, and this time 4G LTE connectivity is on the table as well.
The company has launched several smartphones in recent years, offering unlocked models at affordable price points. Most of those handsets, however, do not support 4G LTE connectivity.
BLU has now taken an important step in the right direction with its latest lineup, as the company just unveiled three new BLU smartphones with 4G LTE support.
"We see an increased demand in 4G LTE as consumers demand higher speeds and better user experience, coupled with a new push from the carriers to get aggressive on LTE pricing in order to migrate existing 3G users to LTE," BLU Products CEO Samuel Ohev-Zion explained in the press release. "Al always, BLU will be there to deliver on the consumer demand with quality LTE devices priced for everyone."
Moreover, the new handsets now pack Qualcomm Snapdragon processors as well, marking a step up from the lower-end MediaTek mobile processors BLU opted for so far.
The three new 4G LTE-enabled smartphones are the BLU Studio 6.0 LTE, the Studio 5.0 HD LTE, and the Studio Mini LTE, so here's what each of them has to offer.
BLU Studio 6.0 LTE
This 6-inch smartphone is the highest-end model in the lineup, sporting a full HD resolution and a more capable Snapdragon 400 MSM8928 processor clocked at 1.6GHz and paired with 2GB of RAM. Other specs include 16GB of internal storage capacity, microSD card support for additional memory of up to 64GB, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front shooter. On the software side, the Studio 6.0 LTE runs Android 4.4 KitKat. The handset is compatible with LTE bands from T-Mobile, MetroPCS, and Tracfone.
BLU Studio 5.0 HD LTE
The mid-ranger of this new lineup comes in the form of the Studio 5.0 HD LTE, which, as the name itself suggests, sports a 5-inch display with HD resolution (720p). Other specs include a slightly less powerful quad-core Snapdragon 400 MSM8926 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, paired with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage capacity expandable up to 64GB, the same camera setup - 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front - and Android 4.4 KitKat as well. The Studio 5.0 HD LTE is compatible with the same LTE bands as its bigger brother.
Studio Mini LTE
Lastly, the Studio Mini LTE is the low end of the new lineup, and also the most compact. This model comes with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and 1GB of RAM as the Studio 5.0 HD LTE, but sports a smaller 4.5-inch screen with a more modest resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. The Studio Mini LTE also comes with only 4GB of internal storage capacity, but it's still expandable up to 64GB. Other specs include a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 0.3-megapixel front shooter, and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on the software side. According to BLU, however, this model is upgradeable to KitKat.
The Studio Mini LTE, meanwhile, makes up for its lower specs by boasting a wider LTE compatibility. In addition to T-Mobile, MetroPCS and Tracfone, this handset is also compatible with AT&T and Cricket Wireless on LTE bands 4, 7, and 17.
Pricing
As expected, all of these new BLU smartphones are available unlocked for affordable prices. The Studio 6.0 LTE comes in at $279, the Studio 5.0 HD LTE costs $199, while the Studio Mini LTE has a $119 price tag. All three handsets are already available for purchase through Amazon.
