Sony teases Xperia Z4 Tablet with 2K display ahead of MWC 2015
Alexandra BurlacuJust days before the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 officially kicks off in Barcelona, Spain, Sony has confirmed the imminent debut of an Xperia Z4 Tablet.
Sony's Xperia lineup of smartphones and tablets has enjoyed great success over the years, and the devices have become increasingly more appealing and high-end. With powerful specifications, neat features, and durable design with water and dust resistance, Sony Xperia devices have gradually grown in popularity and excitement is now building up ahead of the MWC 2015 to see what's next.
In recent times, Sony rumors and leaks have mostly focused on the next-generation Xperia Z4 flagship smartphone, but it seems that the company has big plans on the tablet front as well. Sony itself has outed the upcoming Xperia Z4 Tablet, briefly teasing the device on its official Xperia Lounge application.
The teaser was pulled shortly after, but it was nonetheless spotted in due time and a screenshot is still available for posterity, courtesy of Xperia Blog.
As you can see in the image above, the teaser highlighted a few exciting features such as a 2K display, "the latest ultra fast processor," and "industry leading battery performance." The full specs of the device remain unknown at this point, but so far it sounds quite promising.
When it comes to design, the device shown in this teaser image seems fairly similar to the existing Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, which was greatly appreciated. In other words, the upcoming Xperia Z4 Tablet may look like a 10-inch (or larger) version of the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, complete with a high-resolution 2K display.
The date on the app is listed as March 3, 2015, which virtually confirms that Sony plans to unveil its next-generation Xperia Z4 Tablet at the MWC 2015 next week. The Xperia Z4 smartphone, meanwhile, will reportedly not make an appearance at the upcoming trade show, if recent rumors turn out to be accurate. Various reports indicated that Sony plans to unveil its 2015 flagship smartphone later on in order to take advantage of the timeframe between the MWC launches such as the Samsung Galaxy S6 and fall releases such as Apple's iPhones.
With the MWC 2015 just around the corner, however, we'll soon get the official scoop straight from the source and we'll keep you in the loop as soon as we learn more, so stay tuned.
