Acer C910 Chromebook with fifth-gen Intel Core i5 CPU hits U.S. next month
Alexandra BurlacuA revamped version of the Acer C910 Chromebook is ready to hit the U.S. in April, boasting a fifth-generation Intel Core i5 processor under the hood.
The upgraded model of Acer's education-focused Chromebook C910 will come with a higher price tag compared to the previous version launched back in January, but a higher price is understandable considering the more powerful processor. The new model will cost $499.99, $200 more than its predecessor. Nevertheless, the revamped Chromebook C910 will deliver a notably better performance.
"The new faster performing Acer C910 Chromebook with an Intel Core i5 processor is raising the bar for Chromebook performance," said Carlos Siqueiros, mobility business manager, Acer America. "The advanced technology will boost productivity and help our education and commercial customers get the most out of their Chromebook experience for collaboration on important projects and research."
In terms of specifications, the new Acer Chromebook C910 comes with a 15.6-inch IPS display with either a full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) or an HD One (1366 x 768 pixels), both with Acer ComfyView with anti-glare properties. According to the company, its upgraded Chrome OS laptop is designed for education and business customers alike, delivering a durable design and an "outstanding Chrome performance" on a big laptop screen.
Speaking of durability, the Acer Chromebook C910 rocks a tough shell that enables it to withstand up to 60kg of pressure, as well as survive drops from 45cm. Reinforced hinges should also allow for increased durability.
Other specs of the Acer Chromebook C910 include a fifth-generation Intel Core i5-5200U processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of SSD storage, and a long battery life of up to eight hours on a single charge. Connectivity options consist of Wi-Fi 802.11ac with MIMO, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, and HDMI. When it comes to weight and dimensions, Acer's revamped Chrome OS laptop tips the scales at 4.85 pounds (2.2kg) and measures 15.4 x 10.8 x 0.95 inches (393 x 356 x 24.2mm).
As previously mentioned, the new Acer C910 Chromebook is set to hit commercial availability in the U.S. in April, with a suggested retail price of $499.99. No exact launch date is available at this point, but the company should offer more details shortly.
