ASUS ZenFone 2 officially hits Europe: Specs, prices & options
Alexandra BurlacuThe much-touted ASUS ZenFone 2 just hit retail in Europe, available in three configurations starting on Tuesday, March 31.
ASUS unveiled its latest ZenFone 2 powerhouse back at the CES 2015 trade show, and the handset has been available for purchase in China for more than a month now.
ASUS France has now announced the availability of the ZenFone 2 as well, and more European countries are expected to follow suit shortly.
As previously mentioned, the new ASUS ZenFone 2 is available in three models, ranging in price from €179 (roughly $193) to €349 (about $375).
The higher-end ZenFone 2 variant carries model number ZE551ML and is considered the flagship model. As expected, this version is also the most expensive. The flagship model will be available at a promotional price of €299 for a limited time, but the standard retail price will be €349.
The ZE551ML ZenFone 2 comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display (1920 x 1080 pixels), a 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor, a whopping 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support for additional memory, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front shooter, a 3,000 mAh battery, and 4G LTE connectivity. On the software side, the handset runs Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, with ASUS' own ZenUI on top.
The ZenFone 2 with model number ZE550ML, meanwhile, comes with the same 5.5-inch display size, but with an HD resolution (1280 x 720 pixels) rather than full HD. This variant further packs an Intel Atom Z35600 processor clocked at 1.9GHz, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage capacity, expandable via microSD, as well as 4G LTE (Cat. 4). This variant will cost €249.
Lastly, the third variant of the ZenFone 2 is the basic ZE500CL, which sports a smaller 5-inch HD display, an Intel Atom Z2560 processor, 2GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage capacity expandable via microSD, a 2,500 mAh battery, and LTE support (Cat. 3). This model is the most affordable one, retailing for €179.
These prices are from ASUS France, but the ZenFone 2 pricing may vary depending on market. The smartphone should become available in more European countries in the coming weeks, but no other details are available at this point.
