HTC Butterfly 3 benchmark reveals impressive powerhouse: QHD display, Snapdragon 810 & more
Alexandra BurlacuHTC seems poised to expand its Butterfly series of high-end smartphones, as a newly-surfaced benchmark reveals a top-notch HTC Butterfly 3 handset.
If the HTC One M9 flagship and the QHD-equipped One M9+ were not enough, the purported HTC Butterfly 3 might make its debut soon, borrowing the best specs from each of the two M9 versions.
If this information is correct, the HTC Butterfly 3 will arrive as an impressive powerhouse, packed with great specs all around. More specifically, a Compubench benchmark (via GforGames) reveals that the HTC Butterfly 3 will boast a QHD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels like the One M9+, and feature an octa-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor like the "standard" One M9.
Other specifications listed in this benchmark include a 5.1-inch display size, 3GB of RAM, a 19-megapixel rear camera, and a 12-megapixel front shooter. The main camera sounds a bit odd at 19 megapixels, but in the end it may turn out to be the same 20.7-megapixel shooter found on the One M9 and One M9+.
No details are currently available regarding the device's design, and it remains unclear whether HTC will still opt for plastic, as with other Butterfly iterations, or go for a more premium build like the one found on the One M9 and One M9+. A plastic build, however, seems more likely.
Moreover, considering that it will be part of the HTC Butterfly lineup, the HTC Butterfly 3 is expected to see a limited release in Japan and a few other Asian markets, and may not make it to the U.S. and more countries worldwide. As a reminder, the smartphone would arrive as the fourth in the series, following the HTC J Butterfly, the Butterfly S, and the Butterfly 2.
The benchmark listing suggests that the HTC Butterfly 3 may be ready to make its debut soon, but no specific timeframe is available at this point. At the same time, keep in mind that HTC has made no announcement yet, which means that the purported HTC Butterfly 3 remains in the rumor state for now. We'll keep you up to date as soon as more information surfaces, but take everything with a grain of salt in the meantime.
