Facebook’s MoneyPenny is Siri’s Hottest Rival To Date
Staff ReporterSiri, Apple's voice command concierge, is going to have a big competition with the new toll that Facebook is reportedly developing.
According to TomsGuide, Facebook is riding the bandwagon as Microsoft tries to create a more advanced version of Siri in Cortana. However, Facebook's new app, to be called MoneyPenny, is said to be more than just a voice response to the user's commands.
To stand out, Facebook will integrate MoneyPenny with Messenger which is now a standalone product from the Facebook app. MoneyPenny was inspired by James Bond's secretary with the same name.
So far, there is little information in as to how MoneyPenny will work. But, it will reportedly integrate user's contribution in providing search results instead of a mere algorithm mostly used by search engines. With people-to-people interaction, MoneyPenny can actually stand out because the users will have a more intimate connection with the device.
MoneyPenny will act as the bridge between the user and the vastness of the Internet. It can provide unique and personalized results based on the user's preference. MoneyPenny is also expected to perform other tasks that will help organize and collect data.
Additionally, since MoneyPenny will run in the Facebook Messenger app, it will be integrated to more than 600 million active users, which is a big advantage over its competitors who are just on the starting line.
Apple's Siri also has a wide reach, but since Messenger can also be installed in iOS, it can penetrate that market. Since Cortana is relatively new in the game, Microsoft might find it hard to compete.
At present, MoneyPenny is still undergoing trial runs and testing under Facebook.
Meanwhile, Facebook just updated their Apple app so the users can control their News Feed. So far, it has received positive views from the users.
