Denon Won’t Be Releasing Google Cast Speakers Anytime Soon
Mary Cris BalancioLast year, Google made quite a stir during the CES 2015 event when it announced that it has decided to enter into a partnership deal with LG, Sony and Denon. The deal with the three companies involves making their first wave of Cast-enabled speakers to be called Google Cast.
Throughout the year, the public has seen both LG and Sony offering speakers supporting the Google Cast audio platform, while there weren't any speakers released by Denon. The public wondered whether there was just a delay and it would be coming later on before the year ends. But 2015 ended, and no sign of these speakers were seen. Today, however, it was announced that Denon won't be supporting Google Cast after all.
Denon Europe made that clear this Tuesday through a tweet posted for one of its customers who was asking for information about the promised product. The customer's tweet said it has been 347 days since the company has announced Google Cast speakers and it sounded great but seems like a broken promise.
The tech company responded with a tweet saying that unfortunately both companies had decided to put a stop to the integration of the said speakers due to different product approaches. Another tweet for the same customer said that the company will provide updates in case it decides in the future to continue working on the promised Google Cast.
The media has then reached out to both the companies involved for information regarding the issue. It has then been confirmed that both companies have decided to part ways for now and not continue on with the Google Cast partnership deal.
Denon's not adopting the Cast speakers doesn't seem to hamper the tech giant's expansion of its audio platform, however. During this year's CES event, it has announced that the company has signed deals with B&O Play, Harman/Kardon, Onkyo, Philips, Pioneer and Raummfeld to be the companies' new Google Cast partners.
