Who is the genuine Bitcoin founder? Many are doubtful about Australian Craig Wright who claims to be the real founder under the pseudonym of Satoshi Nakamoto. While most of the people were not convinced, early bitcoin developer Gavin Andresen confidently said that the Aussie's claims are true.
Mr. Wright unmasked his identity to three big media organizations- the BBC, the Economist, and the GQ, reports BBC. To prove that he is the true creator, he "digitally signed messages using cryptographic keys created during the early days of Bitcoin's development."
"These are the blocks used to send 10 bitcoins to Hal Finney in January [2009] as the first bitcoin transaction," he said while on a demo.
Many are confused and asked how it happened. For one instance, direct competitor Vitalik Buterin questioned Mr. Wright's claims with a simple game theory which reads as:
"The true bitcoin creator could have chosen a clear and obvious way to show his identity, or he could have conducted a convoluted and trust-requiring proof."
Gavin Adresen said that the argument is valid however; he strongly believes that Mr. Wright is saying the truth.
"I still believe that Craig Wright is, beyond a reasonable doubt, Satoshi Nakamoto," he said during a panel at the Consensus 2016 event in midtown Manhattan on Monday, quotes CNBC.
His statement on the conference followed his blog stating the same beliefs. "During our meeting, I saw the brilliant, opinionated, focused, generous - and privacy-seeking - person that matches the Satoshi I worked with six years ago."
"I am very happy to be able to say I shook his hand and thanked him for giving Bitcoin to the world," he concluded on his online journal.
According to the news outlet, Andresen is trying to be more persuasive, but there might still be a lot of convincing needed.
