Apple Union Square opened on Saturday, and it's 42-foot tall sliding glass doors are inviting the public to step in and experience shopping and having conferences on the newly-erected establishment.
The store is not just opened to sell Apple products, as per San Francisco Gate. According to the website, the Cupertino-based company built the shop for "community congregations."
The company will host "monthly events for teachers and classes for the community." They also have "The Boardroom," where entrepreneurs, developers and small- and medium-business customers could have insights about their products.
"It embraces our core values better than any building that we ever made," said Chris Riess, a 52-year-old Apple store employee, who works for the company for more than a decade.
Apple gave away free shirts for the first 1,600 customers during the opening day. The launching was quite extravagant, with the performance of the band Marjorie Fair. Meanwhile, filmmakers Robert Kondo and Dice Tsutsumi did a demonstration drawing of singer Even Slamka using Apple Pencils on iPad Pros.
Even though the grand opening was a sight, no Apple products were introduced on the event. But many are impressed with the new store.
"This is just gorgeous," a customer named Pari Howards said, who also claimed that she owned all the "i's." The building was designed by Foster + Partners, noted Design Boom. The highlights of the interiors include a garden, a "genius grove", glass staircases, and the newly accentuated Ruth Asawa fountain, which is a San Francisco heritage site.
Meanwhile, Apple is rumored to be launching 3 new iPhone 7 variants very soon. The product is said to have no headphone jack but when it comes to the exterior features, alleged leaked pictures revealed that it might be an all-glass smartphone.
While these details remains unconfirmed, tech savvy and loyal Apple user could expect a surprising innovation on the latest and upcoming crown jewel products.
