The South Korean smartphone giant, Samsung, has finally launched the much-awaited Android 6.0.1 Marshmellow update for its Galaxy S5 G900H models in Kazakhstan. The reports suggest that the update rolled out is for G900H models with build number G900HXXU1CPE6. It is also reported that the firmware unveiled by Samsung for Galaxy S5 is a stock firmware and not a custom firmware. Thus, the users will have to manually install the update on their devices.
Tech Times reported that the XXU1CPE6 update from Samsung also consists of some bug fixes and security improvements for the Galaxy S5 G900H models. The users can follow the below-mentioned step by step instructions in order to download the latest Android OS update via Odin.
But, before proceeding with the update installation process, IB Times reported that the users should take a backup of their important data and settings on the Galaxy S5 G900H devices. Also, it is reported that the users should verify that the USB debugging has been enable on the device.
Further, the users have been warned that they should guarantee that their Samsung Galaxy S5 G900H smartphone has at least 80 percent battery power. Mobi Picker reported that the battery charge is essential in order to prevent unexpected device shutdown during the update installation process.
Steps to install the Android 6.0.1 Marshmellow update on Samsung Galaxy S5 G900H models:
- The users will have to first download the official Android M XXU1CPE6 firmware from the official link and save the downloaded update file to the desktop.
- The second step involves downloading Odin, which is a very powerful tool and detects only Samsung device when it is in download mode. The users will have to then install Odin too on their computer.
- Before launching the Odin tool, the users have to ensure that the Samsung Galaxy S5 USB drivers are installed on their PC.
- Once everything minute detail has been checked, the users then need to reboot their smartphone into download mode. The next step would be to connect the Galaxy S5 G900H device to the computer via USB cable.
- Odin then carries out the next part by communicating with the Samsung device. The users will have to wait until the ID: COM area reflects yellow or blue color. If this step fails, then the users will have to reinstall the USB drivers again and repeat from the first step.
- The users will have to then select AP option in Odin to load the Android 6.0.1 Marshmellow update file.
- The only caution that the users need to take here is that they need to uncheck the Re-Partition and Auto Reboot options.
- When the update installation process is complete, then a Pass message will be displayed and the ID: COM box will turn green. This is the indication that the users can now remove the USB cable and reboot their Samsung Galaxy S5 G900H device.
