The developer of "Pokemon Go," Niantic revealed new details as the beta-testing phase of the mobile game began.
While the field test for the mobile game has been carried out to Australia, New Zealand and Japan, the company released an updated information about its battle mechanics. Players will be able catch and find over 100 various Pokemon in different real locations around the globe, according to Tech Crunch.
Furthermore, "Pokemon Go" players can be a part of a gym battle consisted of three teams. The game will also allow its players to acquire a Gym by engaging in a battle using their captured Pokemon. If they have defeated their opponent and the Gym's prestige level dropped to zero, the winner will have the right to claim it, IGN reported.
According to the game's description, "When a team has control of a Gym, team members can increase its Prestige and level by training their Pokemon with other defending Pokemon," reported by GameSpot.
"As the Gym gets to a higher level, the defending team gains the ability to assign more Pokemon to defend it. They can also team up with friends and battle together at a rival Gym to take down stronger Gyms faster."
As part of Niantic's initiative to offer a real world connection to the video game, players will find "PokeStops" located in actual places such as historical monuments and art installations. It was also reported that "power-ups and extra items" can be purchased using PokeCoins that has an equivalent currency to a real-life money.
On the other hand, players can create an in-game avatar to interact with others. They will also have the ability to customize their character from a wide-range of choices.
In addition, the company has introduced Pokemon Go Plus, a device that lets players interact with the game, receive notifications and alerts without constantly looking at their smartphones.
Although the company hasn't released an official confirmation with regards to its release date, "Pokemon Go" is expected to launch for free in Android and iOS platforms in 2016.
