The play within a play in Game of Thrones's 'The Door' is adapted from George R.R. Martin's excerpts of the sixth novel, "The Winds of Winter", Vox reported.
The publication commented how the latest episode is a "meta-commentary" on the HBO TV series. The play within a play setting has a very "Hamlet" like feel to it. In the episode, Arya watched a staged version of her father's execution, causing her to reconsider her planned assasination. Jobsnhire reports that the scene had very similar features to Shakespeare's play, where "the real point of the production isn't the play itself but the impact it has on the character who's watching it."
Mobile & Apps has reported previously that 'The Winds of Winter' was rumored to be out in May. However, author George R.R. Martin discredited these claims, saying that he is still working on the fantasy novel. The speculations started when the best-selling author shared a chapter of "The Winds of Winter" on his website.
The Song of Ice and Fire writer took to hid blog to debunk the rumor himself. "Changing the sample chapter does not mean I am done," Martin said.
Martin then went on to tell the readers that there would be a lot of new characters on 'The Winds of Winter', some of which has not been introduced on the show.
"You want to know what the Sand Snakes, Prince Doran, Areo Hotah, Ellaria Sand, Darkstar, and the rest will be up to in Winds of Winter? Quite a lot, actually. The sample will give you a taste. For the rest, you will need to wait," he wrote on his blog.
The shocking episode also showed the death of Hodor, which is portrayed by actor Kristian Nairn. The world mourned the death of the well-loved character. Nairn has told The Hollywood Reporter that he cried when he found out that his character will be killed off in the series.
"I actually cried. I didn't cry openly, but I had a little bit of a sob to myself. It's just so sad," Nairn commented. "To me, it's very satisfying as well. It ties up a lot about Hodor. It ties him all together and kills him at the same time. It's very Game of Thrones."
Have a look at the video below, where Hodor says a few words about his character.
