'Fallout 4' Given Away For Free Due To Xbox Live Glitch
Jazz RosinA glitch on the Xbox Live system earlier today caused Bethesda's post-apocalyptic game "Fallout 4" to be downloaded for free, along with its Season Pass and other "Fallout 4" add-ons.
According to Kotaku, the Xbox Live store has put the price tag of "Fallout 4" at $0, as well as the season pass, "Fallout 4 Automatron" and "Fallout 4 Wasteland Workshop" add-ons. Even the "Fallout 4 Digital Deluxe Bundle", which is typically priced at $109.99, was practically given away for free.
To test if the pricing is true, Kotaku downloaded both the game and the season pass, and reported that it was definitely for free. "I added both to my cart expecting to eventually run into the correct price," Kotaku's Luke Plunkett said. "But nope, turns out they really were free, because they're now both in my Xbox One library without me paying a cent."
Bethesda apparently had no idea how this happened, according to the company's Vice President of Marketing Pete Hines. Hines said on Twitter that it is not his platform and they (probably pertaining to Microsoft) will undo the error.

The glitch was fixed by Microsoft after thirty minutes, with the Xbox Support Team confirming that it was indeed a pricing error on their end, according to Neowin. The support team conducted a short maintenance on the server, resulting in the price glitch.
Xbox Support also confirmed that under licensing agreements, the users who were able to get the games for free will have their licenses revoked automatically.
Another Xbox Support employee, however, said that the bundle was being offered as a promotion for gamers.
The Xbox One version of "Fallout 4" has encountered other issues this week, particularly with stolen PC mods appearing on the Xbox One version. Bethesda has advised PC modders to file a DMCA for stolen mods, which did not sit well with the modding community.
