'Fallout 4' And 'Fallout Shelter' News, Updates: New Content, VR Version Revealed At E3 2016
Jazz RosinBethesda has announced new content for its popular post-apocalyptic game, "Fallout 4," and its mobile game spinoff "Fallout Shelter" at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3.
Three new add-ons will be made available for "Fallout 4," and these will be the last DLC's for the game, according to IGN.
The first DLC will be the "Fallout 4 Contraptions Workshop." This expansion will allow players to further improve their Wasteland settlements. Players will be able to create various machines for their bases like conveyor belts, elevators, armor and weapon racks and sorting machines, among others.
The next one is called the "Vault-Tec Workshop", which will allow the players to become an overseer and create their very own vaults. Players can also conduct experiments on their vault dwellers, and change the way they look via barbershops and cosmetic surgery stations.
The last expansion, "Nuka World", will be set in an abandoned Nuka-Cola theme park that's overrun by raiders. The expansion, much like the latest "Far Harbor" DLC, packs a lot of new quests and an whole new area to discover.
Bethesda revealed after the show that "Nuka World" will be the final DLC that will be released for "Fallout 4," Gamespot reported.
All of these expansions are readily available if the players have purchased the "Fallout 4" Season Pass. Bethesda has not given individual prices for the DLC's yet.
"Contraptions Workshop" will be available next week, while Vault-Tec Workshop will be released sometime in July. The "Nuka World" expansion is slated for an August release. Betas for each DLC's will run on all platforms later this year, according to IGN.
The mobile game, "Fallout Shelter", which already has 50 million downloads since it was launched, will also have a huge update next month.
Bethesda has added the "Quests" feature to the game, allowing dwellers to complete tasks outside the vault and explore new locations. New enemies and an updated combat system will also be included, and players will be meeting new characters along the way.
The biggest announcement for "Fallout Shelter", however, will be the PC version of the game, which will be released next month as well.
Bethesda also announced that "Fallout 4" will be getting a virtual reality version next year. The VR edition will be launched next year for the HTC Vive.
The new "Fallout 4" VR will let players "wander the wasteland, check out the iconic Red Rocket, try combat" with a Pip-boy on the player's wrist and a trusty dog companion by their side, Bethesda said.
"Let's not make a short version of Fallout 4--the promise is the whole game," game director Todd Howard said after the program.
