Latest rumors on the release date of the PlayStation 4 Neo hinted that it might be set for September this year. Sony is reportedly planning to launch the new gaming console at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show sooner than expected.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Sony will likely launch the new Neo console along with another variant to be called as PlayStation 4 Slim. However, no official update about the release date of the consoles or their specs has been provided yet.

However, recent reports suggested that a new PlayStation 4 Neo document has surfaced, hinting at the possible specs and features of the upcoming gaming console. According to Segment Next, the PS4 Neo is expected to feature increased graphical resolution functionality. The gaming console will provide support to the 4K gaming with PlayStation Virtual Reality (PSVR) headset.

Furthermore, there are reports that the PlayStation 4 Neo will feature the same 8GB GDDR5 memory but with a higher bandwidth of 218 gigabits per second. NDTV reported that the upcoming gaming console will sport 8 Jaguar cores at 3.1 gigahertz, which will make it 1.3x times faster than the original PlayStation 4 platform.

Moreover, reports claimed that the PlayStation 4 Neo will have faster speed compared to the older PS4 because of its 2.1 GHz processing speed against the PlayStation 4's 1.6 GHz. Game N Guide reported that the new gaming console is also expected to have a larger memory capacity and external storage options compared to the original.

It is also stated that the PlayStation 4 Neo will have the provision of Wi-Fi connectivity, which will allow the players to play and download the game online.

Apart from the release date and spec rumors, the PlayStation 4 Neo is expected to be priced at $399.
