Warner Bros. Japan just released a new trailer for the much-awaited "Death Note: Light Up The New World" live-action film. The new 1-minute long trailer offers a lens into the one of the new and purportedly worse Death Note proprietor, Sakuro Aoi (Rina Kawaei), amidst a mass killing spree.

In the trailer, fans can see how the present society is harassed with cyber-terrorism right after the Shinigami (God of Death) has once again dropped six distinctive Death Notes into the human world. The film's pivotal plot element will be the "Six-Note Rule," which means up to six Death Notes may simultaneously exist in the human world, Realty Today has learned.

In the midst of this, two new individuals - who inherit the DNA of Light Yagami and the mysterious detective only known as L - are both compelled to play a fatal cat-and-mouse game. As the fate of the Earth remains in a precarious situation, a confrontation begins between the person who wants Kira's revival and the group of people who want to spare mankind from total destruction.

Helmed by Japanese director Shinsuke Sato, "Death Note: Light Up The New World" stars Masahiro Higashide as Tsukuru Mishima, Sosuke Ikematsu as Ryuzaki, Erika Toda as Misa Amane, Misaki Suda as Yugi Shion, Mina Fujii as Sho Nanase, and more, Anime News Network reported. The highly anticipated live-action adaptation is scheduled for release on Oct. 29 by Warner Bros. Japan.

"Death Note: Light Up The New World" is based on the Japanese manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. The original manga, which was first serialized in Shueisha's manga magazine from December 2003 to May 2006, follows the story of a high school student named Light Yagami who finds a book that has the power to take a life once a name has been written in it.
