'Marvel Ultimate Alliance' Review, News: Game Gets Thumbed Down By Critics; Fixes, Solutions To Make It Playable
C. de LacyWhen Activision made the announcement of "Marvel Ultimate Alliance" PC port out of nowhere, fans where surprised and equally excited., tagging along was "Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2." But why are fans giving this game a long face?
"Marvel Ultimate Alliance" gets a "Mostly Negative" rating on Steam, while "Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2" gets a "Negative." This is mostly disheartening for fans who have enjoyed the game, which was possibly the last good Marvel game.
One of the most common complaints players have with the game was the broken control system. Keyboard and Mouse control barely works and the Xbox One and 360 controllers are half-baked. It even states on the Steam product page that controller is "partially supported."
However, there some workarounds to bypass this issue. One way is by using a third-party app like "JoyToKey."
The software simply lets PC game controllers of almost all kinds to emulate keyboard and mouse input. While "Marvel Ultimate Alliance" keyboard and mouse control is barely useuable, remapping the controls may make things easier without having to rely with the in-game controller function.
To learn more about how to use JoyToKey, head over to their website. Setting up is not that complicated and can be done easily with no fear of messing up your system.
Aside from the controls, "Marvel Ultimate Alliance" also suffers from the occasional graphical hiccups that should not be present with an 8th generation "remaster." One possible fix for this for now would be to wait for devs to provide a patch for these issues.
Another solution is to wait for a third party solutions, which was similar for "Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns" case.
The same could be said with the price point. At this point, both "Marvel Ultimate Alliance" and "Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2" is barely playable and once all these issues are officially fixed, players should have second thoughts about getting it.
Make no mistake though. "Marvel Ultimate Alliance" WAS a good game back in its days. Getting high scores on sites like Gamespot should be enough to warrant a remaster, but until then, were better off holding into our money unless fixes are rolled out.
