Nintendo's 'Pokémon GO Plus' In Apple Watch Not Possible; Here's What We Know So Far
Vivian E."Pokémon GO" fans may be in for some disappointment. Latest reports claimed that the eagerly anticipated "Pokémon GO Plus" will not be launched on the Apple Watch.
While many believed "Pokémon GO plus" would have really been useful for the Apple Watch, Polygon reported that the said device will not launch on the Apple Watch due to some economic reasons.
"The title was jointly developed by Niantic, Pokémon Company and Nintendo," Macquarie Research analyst David Gibson told Business Insider. "It is unclear exactly what their economic interest is in the game, but we presume that out of every 100 units earned at the app store, 30 would go to Apple, 30 to Niantic, 30 to Pokémon and 10 to Nintendo."
In a previous interview, Niantic Labs CEO John Hanke stated that the "Pokémon GO" game happens in a real-world setting, where players can interface using various mobile phones. He added that all the fun and excitement in the game does not have to be contained on the watch's small screen.
According to a report by GameNGuide, Nintendo and Pokémon Company prefer that the gamers invest more in "Pokémon GO Plus" hardware rather than purchasing another Apple Watch. "Pokémon GO" plus is a wristband-mounted accessory that allows players to perform certain actions without looking their phone's screen.
In the United Kingdom, the device is yet to open for pre-orders with a shipping date scheduled for Aug. 31, 2016. It is important to take note that Nintendo UK store will only sell one "Pokémon GO Plus" to each customer to manage its demands.
The 46 x 33 x 17.55 mm "Pokémon GO Plus" device, which combines the Poké Ball and the shape of the Google Maps pin, costs $34.99. It is compatible with both iOS and Android devices.
