‘Man In The High Castle’ Season 2 Spoilers: Spotnitz Out As Showrunner

Anticipation was high among fans leading to the release of the first season of "Man in the High Castle" after its pilot episode posted record-setting numbers, a feat which "Man in the High Castle" season 2 hopes to duplicate as it gears up for a release date.

Despite its initial success, the series' cast and crew were tightlipped on the details of the key adaptation of legendary sci-fi author Philip K. Dick's alternate version on the aftermath of World War II.

This time, however, the same cast - minus season 1 showrunner Frank Spotnitz - attended this year's San Diego Comic Con to give fans some hints on what they could expect from "Man in the High Castle" season 2, according to Den of Geek.

As it turned out, the big news for season 2 was not about the show itself but on the resignation of Frank Spotnitz as showrunner of "Man in the High Castle," whose release date was still uncertain.

This development didn't come much as a surprise though, as Spotnitz was considered a hands-off showrunner who did most of his from a distance.

He will however stay on as executive producer and will still be consulted, having played a major role in the series' development.

Meanwhile, Deadline reported that a newcomer in "Man in the High Castle" season 2 will play a key role in Joe's life, a development that is expected to create more excitement in the show whose release date still has to be disclosed.

On the other hand, Sebastian Roche will make a comeback on the show and will portray the role of Joe's estranged father.

His character has been described as "wealthy, high-ranking Nazi official based in Berlin who wants to reconnect with his son but would not blink twice about the extermination of the enemies of the Reich."

The French actor is recognized for his role in the CW's "The Originals" and his stint in the ABC soap General Hospital.

In an earlier interview with Den of Geek, Spotnitz said, "There are glimpses of what's going on with the rest of the planet in the first season," as he provided a glimpse of the events that would transpire in "Man in the High Castle" season 2 whose release date is still a mystery.
