'Gintama' Live Action Movie Slated For 2018 Release; Shun Oguri, Masaki Suda, Ryo Yoshizawa Included In Cast

The full cast of the upcoming "Gintama" live action movie has been recently revealed.

According to Anime News Network, the cast for the live action film adaptation of Hideaki Sorachi's Shonen Jump manga has been revealed by staff, with more names joining the previously revealed lead actor, Shun Oguri.

Oguri will be playing the eccentric samurai Gintoki Sakata, the main protagonist of "Gintama." The star is well known for his roles in other anime and manga film adaptations such as "Lupin III," "Detective Conan," and popular J-Dramas "Gokusen" and "Hana Yori Dango."

Oguri's character Gintoki will be joined by his fellow Yorozuya members Kagura and Shinpachi Shimura, and will be portrayed by Kanna Hashimoto and Masaki Suda, respectively.

Suda is well-known for his role in "Kamen Rider W" as Phillip, and the recent "Death Note" TV series as Yuki Shien. Hashimoto, on the other hand, is a member of J-pop idol group Rev. From DVL, and has starred in the film adaptation of "Assassination Classroom" as Ritsu.

Masami Nagasawa, who starred in J-Drama series "Wakamono Tachi" and "High School Entrance Exam," will portray Shinpachi's sister Tae Shimura.

Gintoki's friend, Kotaro Katsura, will be reprised by versatile actor Masaki Okada, known for his role in "Hana-Kimi."

Three actors are also revealed to portray the role of Shinsengumi members Toshiro Hijikata, Sougo Okita and Isao Kondo.

Shinsengumi commander Kondo will be portrayed by Kankurō Nakamura VI. The role of mayonnaise-loving vice-commander Hijikata will be filled by "Crows Explode" actor Yuya Yagira.

"Prince of Sadists" Sougo Okita will be played by Ryo Yoshizawa, who is known for his various roles in Jdramas and TV series like "Ao Haru Ride," "Daily Lives of High School Boys" and "Kamen Rider Fourze" as Kamen Rider Meteor.

The "Gintama" movie is slated for a 2018 release date window, according to MyDramaList. The film will be headed by "Hentai Kamen" director Yuichi Fukuda.
