Apple iMac 2016 Update: PC To Sport VR Compatibility After New Polaris 10 GPUs?
Dheeraj RThe latest update on the upcoming iMac 2016 hinted that it will be VR-ready because of the new AMD Polaris 10 graphic processing units.
Mac World reported that the new iMac 2016 will sport the latest AMB Radeon Polaris graphics chips, which will make it VR compatible. With the Polaris GPU, iMac 2016 customers will reportedly be able to experience the virtual reality world at ease via their desktops.
"AMD has just completed the shrink to 14nm with Polaris," said Roy Taylor from AMD. "This means we can produce GPUs that will run the minimum spec of VR at a lower cost, in larger volume, consuming less power and running faster. That means in the second half of this year and going forward more people will be able to run those headsets."
WCCF Tech also stated that the AMD's Polaris chips will provide enhanced graphics performance to the iMac 2016 with the help of its built-in 16nm FinFET production process.
Furthermore, there are reports that the Apple desktop will consist of the Intel's Kaby Lake chipset, which recently started shipping. Reports claimed that the iMac will also sport USB 3.1 and Display Port 1.2 support in the latest version.
Moreover, there are reports that the upcoming Apple desktop will be launched with a pre-installed macOS Sierra. It is also rumored that the Cupertino-based company will also include the flash storage similar to that of the iMac 2015 update. This flash storage is called as the Fusion Drive, which provides the desktop computers with a high-performance hybrid blend of flash and conventional storage.
Meanwhile, the rumors hinted that the Apple iMac 2016 is expected to be released in October following the similar release trend as that of its previous installment.
Accoridng to the latest update, Apple is currently offering a whopping $100 to a $220 discount on its iMac models which has drastically brought down the price range.
